Cultivate Your Mind

Cultivate Your Mind

A Poem by HighBrowCulture

A child asked me how one cultivates their mind.  I laughed because someone convinced him 'cultivate' is a word of genius.  I laughed because someone else grumbled school and books and museums and culture and volunteering and politics and blah and blah.  But I sghed, took a knee, and scattered thoughts...

Lie in a field and stare at the stars. Humble yourself.

Study the flow of a river, the fluidity, the motion.  Like the blood through your veins.

Learn to feel and taste and smell and hear everything acutely, precisely, delicately, because it will never be now again. Ever.

Lose yourself in daydreams, in imagination, in being a child again.  Because it's only you and all yours.

Doubt everything. Don't stop questioning.

Wisdom is in your words. Book can help. Living and celebrating life must be the teacher of a life. I travel for 20 years and know nothing. Last lines were true and outstanding wisdom for a life. A excellent poem.
