A Monster Tale

A Monster Tale

A Poem by Hidden_identity

Let me come out of my shadow

Please, do not scream at the sight of me

I'm just a mere person

with feelings and a mind

So don't treat me like you see me

As a monster

A foul creature

with sharp fangs

and matted hair

Please, just let me speak

I have ideas I would like to share

Oh, if only you would listen to me

then maybe we can be friends

But wait.

Why would you want to be friends with me?

Because I'm different?

Because I may not smell very nice?

Because I don't act like you do?

Please, do not judge me

I am just like you

only a little different is all

I would so like us to be friends

Why can't we be friends?

Why do you run away from me?

You look at me with a disgusted look,

but what did I do wrong?

Please, tell me what I did wrong

There was a time I felt this way. In fact I sometimes do like when I step out into public and some stupid snob or jerk looks at me funny. Anyway this really struck a cord with me.
