The Roof Over The RoomA Poem by Josi-Free Verse- i typically hang my head back over the arm of the couch, and let my arms stretch back too. i look at the popcorn ceiling with my mouth slightly open, or my upper teeth barely sticking onto my lower lip. My eyes are normally tired as i do this, my blinking becomes slower i look like i might be on a hallucinogenic drug, and i smile in the slightest way it doesn't touch my faded eyes. my nostrils flare the candle light flickers and dances down the sides of my crude face my eyebrows scrunch my eyes roll, and expand my hair trembles on my eyelid i stretch my palms, my fingers out i pick at my skin my leg will slightly twitch I'll curl my toes and slightly dab my lip with my tongue as my chest softly rises and falls, my ribs will burn And i see something. I realize i can see, forever. right there, I'll whisper towards it, the noise breaking past my mouth I think i can reach out, and press my finger tips on it my prints embedded into the liquid surface of it but i clear my throat and it sprinkles down my chest and, i know it's nothing but the roof over the room
