The Things They Tell Me

The Things They Tell Me

A Poem by HeyUmmWhat

They tell me be strong,

And I'm beautiful so I could find another.

The only thing they don't see is how much I don't want to let go.

They tell me it's for the best,

And I deserve better.

The only thing they don't understand is that he made me who I am.

They tell me move on,

And find someone new.

The only thing they don't hear is the breaking of my heart.

They tell me as time goes on it won't hurt,

And that another will come.

They only thing they don't know is that I still wait for his call.

They tell me be happy,

And there's no need to cry over someone who didn't care.

The only thing they don't feel is the burning in my eyes.

They tell me to put everything that's yours in a box,

And it's time to forget about you.

The only thing they won't learn is that I still look at your picture.

They tell me there are more guys out there,

And it's ok to still care for him.

The only thing they don't comprehend is that I am trying to be strong.
