Once in a Lifetime

This is not a poem...My first prose on this site.

If you had only one day to spend with the love of your life,
Would you spend it dreaming of a lifetime together,
Or would you spend it enraptured, entangled, in love?

Because how could you accept never seeing that someone again?
If you debauched yourself in full-on enjoyment,
Wouldn't it seem like defiling something sacred?

Yet if you sat there asexually holding hands,
Wishing for more, and fantasizing...
Would THAT be the more wretched fate?

Is the fantasy more than the reality?
Or is feeling it -REALLY FEELING IT-
The most important thing of all?

Would you try to freeze him/her in your mind?
Or hope to forget and move on?
Despite knowing it could never be better...

If you had but one day, and that day alone
What would you do with your ideal love?
And how would you honor that memory?

Thought about this for a long time before leaving my review. I'd have to say I would do both ... if I had only 24 hours ... indulge in the passionate for awhile (or maybe twice) ... then spend the rest of the time in a tender, loving bubble. If I knew I would never see this person again? ... I would spend the rest of my days reliving that 24 hour period that we had. A very thought provoking write.

I am genuinely touched that you gave it such good thought! I was thinking this as I wrote it. I love your dog picture, by the way. I had a sweet little blond Shitzu-Maltease dog named Charlie who looked just like that! Anyway, it was a very legitimate question and I appreciate that you gave it the long term thought I was hoping someone would honor it with!! I think you understood it in the manner it was intended, but it is still a bit less clear than I meant to make it. I may have to re-edit this one.

Thank YOU! I will try to figure out how to do that. I am surprisingly garbage at trying to figure out how to do some things on this site. I think that YOU saw what I was trying to say here, but it isn't quite clear enough I think. I think what it needs is more specific examples or something.

Oh, I just haven't really figured out how best to navigate around on here. I only just recently figured out how to look at Stats. I am not very good with navigating the internet...It is an odd incapacity of mine. I am a smart person, but the internet is not often set up the way my mind works. I think this site has too many tabs and some how the same name, which makes no sense to me.

I can't argue with that...This is just a really simple write. I may eventually have to alter it to make it more specific and pointed. I am not sure it says all I meant for it to say...It needs work to really express the narrow edge I meant for it to. To be quite honest it was originally meant to be a bit more sexual, but I shied away from from that at the last moment.

But why not both?... savoring the memory whilst you hold each other in passionate embrace....
To taste, caress, inhale, express the deepest parts of each other...that's what I would do...
