Alien

Alien

A Poem by Hesperidian

She
looked to the left as she hurried along the sidewalk
The 'tap tap' of her shoes as they hit the cement, echoed
She shivered as a sharp gust of wind blew past her
The night had grown darker it seemed
The moon was a tiny speck hidden beneath the dark blue clouds that had gathered
And the whistles of the wind rose and fell with an ominous pitch
She had finished late from work as usual, it was expected.
Waitressing at a seedy bar where rowdy burly workmen came to watch football and drink
Break bottles and beat each other up
All in a days work.
She had walked this road a million times, fearless. Never been mugged or robbed or raped.
She was one of those people who lived life believing things that happened to other people couldn't happen to her.
But this night was different, so she thought different.
She cast furtive glances behind her as she picked up her pace, briefly considering taking off her noisy shoes, but one look at the slippery filthy road convinced her otherwise.

She heard a whistle separate from that of the wind and jumped. She looked around her. Nothing.
Another whistle, then low laughter.
She started running.

Suddenly she hit a wall of blackness. At the same time rain started to fall. Pouring in heavy torrents.
She couldn't move forward or see a thing
She started to remember stories her friends told about the women that mysteriously disappeared on that road. She had thought then that it was normal. What with serial killers and rapists, women mysteriously disappeared on every road.

She tried to tear through the blackness. All she felt was solid impenetrable air.
She turned back and decided to take the other way
But the blackness was everywhere now
She felt her throat constrict as her breathing became laboured. She was suffocating.

She clutched her neck as she sank slowly to the floor. Little black spots blurred her vision
She reached out a hand as if pleading and felt something slippery wrap itself around her hand
She felt something wet in her ear like a tongue, licking, nibbling. It ran down the length of her face, to her lips
She felt her clothes come away from her body, so easily, like she had been wrapped in paper.
Whatever was on her hand extended the length of her arm, slippery and slimy. She shuddered
She tried to fight but she was weak. Like all the energy had been sucked from her. She was blind now.
The tongue went even lower, encircling her n*****s while another tongue it seemed, prised open her legs and snaked its way up her thighs.
She wanted to scream, but the sound died in her throat. She felt trapped in her head.
The slippery thing sneaked up her arm to her neck, up her face, one tentacle entering her ear, pushing out her eyeballs.
The second tongue was way up her vagina, making its way to her womb. Laying its eggs in there. Minuscule ovoid eggs.
She struggled with the last of her strength and felt relieved when the things seemed to have left her body
She blindly felt around till her hand found her stomach. It was distended. She felt a sudden contraction and her legs flew wide apart.
She was pregnant with a beast.
