RevesA Poem by HesperidianLost
You smell like summers past
And taste of the chill of winter Long gone is the ruddiness That once dotted your tegument In spots reminiscent of the rose Forlornly, I watch as Slowly, the darkness claims you Shadowlands become your troubled dreams Once wool gatherer now dusk harvester Spells, thought harmless, you once uttered In the folly of youth In your quest for distinction Now have taken shape and form Wraiths they are And together with the night, seek to become you They know the things you have spoken In the silent places of your psyche Fear, the weft across your bêtise Yarn worthy of Arachne. Tragedy beckons Closing in around you Stuffing you full of your own essence Your heart it wishes to tame A hutch to trammel that which is wild Your soul lies crushed Beneath a mountain of woes Your spirit lay staccato Fluttering on broken wings In my arms lay thee Once an inviolable force Now lost to slow decay Putrefaction of soul and flesh Your fairness only to be remembered By the sweet sour laurel That shall crown your earthy tresses © 2013 Hesperidian |
