Worth

Worth

A Poem by Austin Blay
"

You have more power than you could possibly imagine. Unleash it and accept your worth.

"

Verse:

The spark of divinity lives in us all

Creating a need to justify

On an anvil of hateful tendencies

You believe self worth mattered

Clouds of error are lifted

Revealing a plan to sacrifice

Exchanging lust for passion

His back ripped and torn

I’ve watched the blood of the poor

Spill from the lips of monstrous ideals

Living to justify others distaste

Relive the regret Im forced to feel

Chorus:

Prophets foresee misery

Removing the wrappings to expose the leper

So unkind to the worthless

You’ve forgotten yourself

Verse:

Another day spent wasted

Feeding the darkest memories

Making it easier to resist

And deny all self worth

Rules on stone since erased

Falling from a mountain of deception

Not too late to turn back

Donning a crown of thorns

Answering questions with absolution

Denying the bias that feeds

Tell me I’m worth the pain

Before I forget my worth

Chorus:

Prophets foresee misery

Removing the wrappings to expose the leper

So unkind to the worthless

You’ve forgotten yourself
