The winds, the waves and the calm !!

The winds, the waves and the calm !!

A Poem by Dr Sharmila Parajuli

My friend called her new car's color "blue"
I thought the color was green and it's true

I didn't want to argue on this simple statement
Because I was genuinely happy to see her excitement

We went out for a ride across the lonely countryside
I saw tears rolling down her cheeks in pride

I remember her saving every single penny to buy her dream car
Behind her success story not known to many; there is a lot of pain and emotional scar

Few years back, I remember getting a call from her at midnight
I could hear her scream, and her tone of voice was so uptight

I told her to calm down and take some deep breaths
I know her life was uprooted by both her parents' recent deaths

Life had been pretty unfair to her as even her younger brother committed suicide
Sometimes, the smallest of sounds and minor discussions were enough to make her petrified

It took her exactly five long years to accept her loss
Life is not a "fairy- tale" to suddenly change by a coin toss

I've seen her work very hard to achieve everything on her own
Success does not come easily, and you have to wake up and work till dawn

Last year, she had invited a bunch of friends to her happy place "her home"
The vibes were immaculate, and the interiors were far from the norm

Just as even the thinnest pancake always has two sides
Not everyone has the same favorite rides

I'm very proud of her journey from pieces to a Rubik's cube
Despite the hardships in life, she has no complaints against the almighty and never forgets to show her gratitude

You've completed a situation within poetry that must have taken great care as well as truth - rather than play with words via imagination, Sharmila. You rightfully tell your dear friend how proud you are of her and am sure she will be delighted with her very own tribute. How empathic and generous!
