Exercise the act of speaking!!!A Poem by Dr Sharmila ParajuliWhat we don't realize is that the power to listen first can transform your life and those of your loved ones too..We have been taught since childhood that "Actions speak louder than words" But, have we ever realized that it is more important to listen than to say and for this you don't have to be a nerd! Lots of relationships and friendships have ended in this modern world just because people open their mouth more than they open their ears and minds One must learn to take care of your tongue like they care of gold and diamonds I have a strong dislike for people who just talk the talk and do not walk the walk Pretending to get the work done verbally is entirely different from doing it with utmost honesty and it's no cakewalk In a world full of betrayal and lies; it's hard to know who is being honest So many people be it your colleagues, friends and families make claims all the time even though they appear the dimmest Some people say such demeaning things on your face and at the end add a tag saying " You can't take a joke?" If gaslighting isn't your intention, then be clear so as to avoid misunderstandings my dear folk A tongue doesn't get things done when a person just brags about himself/herself in front of other people dealing with loss and grief What people forget is that one wrong word at moments like these could bring disgrace and the termination of bliss Sometimes, you feel an obligation to speak up for yourself and your loved ones But be careful to weigh your words before you speak as they don't always have to be guns I agree that saying is a different and easy thing from doing But, with practice, the act can be good and smooth like the skills at canoeing Over the years, I've realized that taking care of your mouth is surely a life saver Why don't you guys try for the next few months, you will definitely thank me later Just remember that you and only you are responsible for every single word you speak or spit No one's perfect, but we can at least try to exercise speaking as much as our boundaries permit
