Regret

Regret

A Poem by Mel

I remember the first time I met you,

Locking eyes with you from across the room,

The electricity pumping through my veins,

With one simple gaze holding me in place.

That’s just how it started,

One look changed to one word,

And next minute, I’m in your arms bearing my soul to you,

With you invading every memory of mine, unable to be erased.

Then things took an abrupt turn,

The love dying out, witnessing it all crash and burn,

While I attempt to cling on to whatever was left,

Trying to undo it all, and return to our happy days.

Leaving me to wonder,

How different it would be if I hadn’t met you that day?

Or talk to you the day after?

Would fate have brought us together?

Or would have life continued without knowing what we were missing?

If only I could go back in time

I would've never ended up where I am today.
