You Within MeA Poem by S.N. KirtonThe sixth poem from my poem project, "Saudade," titled "You Within Me."Each footstep leaving a trail of heartache My eyes soon adjust past the blur of tears My gaze eventually finding the place In which only consists of the continuous thought of you Thus, my being slowly declines With the oncoming aroma once the store’s door becomes ajar Causing me to now stand behind the vast window that’s crystal clear Our last encounter reenacted through my mind Watching us sit before my eyes I still taste the delicious sweetness Through inhale and consumption As you inclined the soft textured delicacy in between my sickened pale lips The corners of my mouth curls with the past While your eyes stayed connected with mine Taste buds electrified as the soft creme rolled along my tongue, blush inclined To the degree to match the pink hue our dessert contained Then you had mentioned something that I at the time could not handle And once this occurred Such savory remembrance turned bitter and vile A peaceful wanted memory rewritten swallowed leaving an aftertaste of anguish My eyes now descending to my chest Enclosed sobs release causing others to stare As I feel the heartbeat that is not mine I wish for once in my life that it should have been me However, Though unnecessary hatred derives within me towards me. I shall live on. For you. For us.
