Gimme The Thought

Gimme The Thought

A Poem by Alicia Nicole

I give up on this hopeless endeavor.
Maybe, just maybe love just isn't for me.
Seconds passing
I slowly realize I could never be the one to fill your hopeless heart.
He's still number one.
He'll always be your night in shinning armor.
You told me you loved me and I believed you.
Who am I to say it wasn't honesty? But all in the same who am I to say it was.
You've gotten your mystery woven into my bones.
This isn't my place to be.
You won't even hold my shaking hands as I try the back doors to your heart.
Every inch the needle has met the thread.
Just so happens I left my scissors behind.
I always fall for your kind.
Straight off the nearest cliff.
Do you even know how badly I want to be the shoulder you quiver upon when fear strikes?
When you've been worn down so thin a battle cry couldn't even be heard over the flooding of salty sympathy.
I want to be the one.
Your only one.
You haven't even given me the time of day.
Or is it I that needs to let my own self inside?
I can still be the only one.
Give me a spare key.
I'm no knight but I could be your fairytale.
