A friend

A friend

A Poem by Henry Flamingo

I try to share my thoughts
With those who I think judge not
But the moment I open my mouth
They seem to be heading south
I rush them into deep talk
About how I am cold as rock
But I don't want them to be cheery
about my thoughts so dark and dreary
I just want someone to understand
Someone who will listen at demand
And hear what it is I have to fear
A friend like that is hard to come by
I hope to find one before I die
