Two for One

Two for One

A Poem by Henry Clemmons

Rose scented candles
wait for
a flicker
            of flame.

In stillness
of silent readiness
they smell
like  roses
slouching in dark.

_____

Cobwebbed chambers,
  indolent heart,
  linger for impulse,
                            rots
  loitering for life
  that left the building.

Good imagery. Cobwebbed chambers, loitering for life. Some of the impact here seems to me, to be reduced by using a tired or overworn phrase", like silent readiness" Maybe you can work with that one.
