Respite

Respite

A Poem by Henry Clemmons

Some
Thought it
Strange
I could befriend
Both
High noon and moon together,
But
They represented
Respites
Where long ghostly shadows
Of tragedy and guilt
Could not smother me
In blankets of
Despair.
