Boardgames and Goodbyes

Boardgames and Goodbyes

A Poem by Helrac

When I think of you I cry.

I find it hard to control

despite the years that pass.

"see you soon pretty"

words that haunt me.

Am I selfish

for hoarding the memories I have of you?

I envy the innocence of childhood

and boardgame friendships.

I wish I could have had

that first drink with you at 21.

I guess you wish you could have had that too.

I know "sorry"

is only a wasted word.

If I could?

I'd do it "once more,

with feeling".

Bye beautiful.

When younger...I think we all felt the world was going to end with every little thing that goes wrong.lol Now that we are adults....looking back it all seems so simple...trivial. Friendships where built on games and word play. But overtime....the games become more complex...and burried with emotions.

A sad and beautiful poem. A lot of story hidden in the words. Life teaches us to appreciate the small thing. The hello's are too few and the goodbyes are never forgotten. Thank you for the excellent poem.

About
I didn't intend on writing poetry. I set down to journal one day and this was how my thoughts came out. This seems to be the only way they come out which at times is really frustrating. Not sure what .. more..
