Pious Pawns

Pious Pawns

A Poem by Helrac

You stood before us

a faithful confessor

and we your confessional.

You purged yourself of that

which we deemed damnable,

and we judged you.

We cast you out

trying to cast out our own fears.

I said nothing.

Still I cannot explain the tears

in that dead wooden forest.

I think that they were not for you.

Now you are this shadow,

drifting in my vision.

A true testament

to it's power over us.

Some people can get into our heads. Their words can make us think and twist us up. I like the story in this poem. Open the doors to questions. The ending made this poem complete. Thank you for the excellent poem.

About
I didn't intend on writing poetry. I set down to journal one day and this was how my thoughts came out. This seems to be the only way they come out which at times is really frustrating. Not sure what .. more..
