Simple offeringsA Poem by HelracI smell you lingering around my head as I lay in bed each night. I try not to breathe too much, as if breathing might suck you away from me.
I think about how we used to cook all those things I don't eat. I think of pinneapple, how my mouth bled and bled.
I drink your water now, feels like I am back with you every time.
Sometimes I get out your old brown lipstick case, cracked and worn. Going through every card, reading every word, thinking of each second of your life.
I uncap your perfume. Lost in your smell, your essence. Sometimes like a guilty child I dab some on a cotton ball and carry you around with me all day.
I uncap each lipstick, inspecting each color, seeing your face with every new tube.
I save the one for last. It's thick and cool as I smear it across my own, too pale, lips. It's electrifying and your smell lingers in it. A piece of you I am granted every time.
It's a simple offering. © 2012 HelracFeatured Review

This seems to be the only way they come out which at times is really frustrating. Not sure what .. more..Writing
