2am confessions

2am confessions

A Poem by Andre Peterson

Its crazy how we used to sit around without a drink in our hands. There's no good way to explain it. I'm a shadow of the former man.
And what was the words that my father used to say?
Take your heart son, then give it away.

You see I used to think that the world was a better place.
That love grew just as fast as it did in my own space.
I used to fear that I was lost and that no one would understand.
And that was when I found that I'd start drinking again.

I sat around and watched all my friends turn away.
I never new at the time to say what I was trying to say.
I was meaning to show them something new.
But another bottle in my hand was something they've grow cold to.

Would you believe I once tried to go away.
Who could ever dream to face another lonely day.
The drinking took time. I grew with it they say.
I just wanted to feel like the same man I did before you went away.
