Gray Eyes

Gray Eyes

A Poem by Andre Peterson
"

A special song I wrote long ago.

"
Oh gray eyes, don't you stare.
I haven't got anything only words that must be said.
This just happens to be a beautiful day.
without any answer, I'll believe it to feel okay.

And I can't help but remember.
And I can't help but think of you.

Because you're still there when I sing to no one.
And I still see you smile even though, it's not for me.
But I won't go bitter for what you may see.
All I want is for you to feel free.

This picture on the wall, reveals the truth.
I don't know what's the matter but I do know it's for you.
This old tore letter, written on a cold wet night.
With everything behind me, I still see a reason to fight.

And I can't help but remember.
And I can't help but think of you.

Because you're still there when I sing to no one.
And I still see you smile even though, it's not for me.
But I won't go bitter for what you may see.
All I want is for you to feel free.

But I can't go on without those gray eyes that shine.
I still hope they're dreaming, beautiful and bright.
