The Artist Olley

The Artist Olley

A Poem by Helen Crutchett
"

Dedicated to a loved Australian painter, Margaret Olley.

"

The Artist Olley

desolate empty tabletop's disarray is
splotched with oils spotting the
wood grain paints unmixed
as a beloved artist is no more there
sketching and splashing colour
arranging dry flowers prudently painting on
an easel now empty of life, the
sombre room illuminates like a butterfly's wing
