My PegasusA Poem by Helen Crutchett
It
must have been moon-glow intoxication
that entered my soul one lonely night a
night when I thought all
was lost in heaven and earth when
I could no longer stand my loveless existence
The
ink black sky opened in
a burst of golden rainbow colours
clambering to
embrace this lonely poetess
whose pen had dried like
the shell of a fallen star
exposed to elements of a
changeable cosmos ~
You,
my saviour of the night keeper
of my dreams, rescuer
of this woman locked
in a castle high
on the rugged cliffs of
loneliness overlooking an
angry sea ready to drown all hopes
You
came in answer to
a siren’s call Never
giving up the
Gods’ would hear my
prayers carried in
whispers on the wings
to your heart ~
Come
my Pegasus... ride
across the infinite heavens’
home of uncountable
stars with
your golden bridle of
love to the precious place in my heart held only for you ~
