Love Is BlindA Poem by Helen Crutchett
Love Is Blind
If you would hear and you would see How much I needed you You'd know then how much I loved you true -
If I could hear those little words whispered in my ear You would wipe away my fear -
But you do not see, you are blind to me, I do not exist I cry tears for the beautiful things we could have had And missed -
You do not see or hear the tears I shed at night I don't think my world will ever now be right -
How was I so blind and foolish to see what I wanted to see to think you could become all I wanted you to be -
I heard what I wanted to hear from your words of deceit Words of emptiness, of flattery, oh so sweet!
My dreams have gone and I'm left alone to mourn My world and heart left tattered and torn -
If only I had and listened to the warning voice inside not gone and thrown away my pride -
Be careful when you throw empty promises around Words can strike a woman's very core and sorely wound If only you could understand ~
