Chapter 10: The Stablehand

Ruby soon came out from her room, down the rich staircase, and settled herself on the dining table for dinner. The maid soon came out with delicious smelling food and placed it down in the middle of the huge table.

“Don’t faint this time,” Leigh joked, starting to open up a bit more. Feather and Ruby laughed. They ate their dinner joyfully, and afterwards it was time to go to bed. Ruby wasn’t used to this, she has never slept in her bed in Solarist. She uncomfortably slowly slipped into her big fluffy bed and tried to sleep. She closed her eyes for a moment, tossed and turned wondering if she was going to have any dreams like Solarist in her dream that she’s having of Solarist. Soon enough she managed to get an hour of sleep.

Ruby got woken up by Feather and Leigh running down the corridor for breakfast. She didn’t realise in Solarist, it was a tradition to eat breakfast very early (about 5:21 am). A couple minutes of groaning and grunting and Ruby followed them and sat down for breakfast.

Leigh confronted Ruby to tell her something.

“Umm, miss- Ruby, I need to tell you something about Feather,”

“What is it?”

“Uhh, you might have noticed but, she’s colour blind,” Leigh said, Ruby was too tired to take it in.

“Oh, um good,” Ruby yawned. She was as tired as anyone could get. She just wanted to rest her eyes for a moment....

There large bells to indicate it was time for the whole star to eat breakfast. Ruby jumped. The maids brought in breakfast, a special dish from solarist called “Orphanofa eggs,” a waiter said, setting the dishes in front of everyone. There laid multiple eggs of a Beaker, a native bird from Solarist. You could just suck it up, and it had a marvellous taste, and makes you feel so awake and energised for the day. The royal prince and princess gulped all three eggs as fast as lightning, then set off jumping out into the gardens, chasing each other, playing tag. Ruby realised that the sun was already up, and wanted to join in the fun as well. She charged at them, and everyone squealed and ran around having a such a fun time.

“Can we ride the horses?” Feather pleaded. Ruby laughed and agreed, so for the first time she visited the stables.

There were all sorts of horses, different coat colours, breeds, each treated fairly.

“Wow, this stablehand needs a promotion,” Ruby joked, impressed by their work.

“I’d like that,” a handsome chap said. “Oh my, your highness, it’s pleasure to meet you,” He gave a goofy grin as he bowed.

“Oh please,” Ruby teased. “I’d like to have three of the finest horses here,” She said. Feather was getting more excited by the second. The boy got straight to work.

“Here is Gallen, he’s a beauty if I say so. Fastest around I’d say,” He said patting a strong black stallion, with a shiny black coat. Next he went to a hazel brown mare, “This lil’ girl called Piper ain’t just got the looks, she’s a jumper and probably most obedient,” he introduced her. Then he walked to another horse. “Lastly this darling is a beast,” he enthused “she’s the most beautiful and intelligent, strong, fast, high jumper, obedient. Literally a living legend,” the chap said patting a beautiful white mare. “Her name’s Grace, known to bring peace at her own risk she was named after the great queen,” Ruby loved all the horses.

“Fair enough, I’ll take them,” Ruby shrugged, trying to play it cool. The stablehand laughed.

“If you wish, your majesty,” he lead the three horses out and helped Leigh and Feather on a horse. Feather wanted to ride Grace, Leigh rode Piper, and Ruby rode Gallen.

“Might I ask, where are you going?” The boy asked.

“Just a ride in the massive garden,” Ruby bragged. He laughed,

“Alright, be careful,”

“Oh, today’s Leigh and Feather’s coronation, everyone's invited,” Ruby smiled. The boy bowed and walked back to the stables.

Chapter 11: The Official Prince and Princess

“Today is the coronation day for Feather Corlita Rean and Leigh Jay Rean, the queen has accepted them so much she has willingly made them the future rulers of Solarist. They will be the prince and princess, they are humble, empathetic, and kind and caring. They very well deserve this role,” Ruby said her short speech. Everyone in the church clapped. Leigh came down the aisle first, he was wearing a medieval tuxedo, and he walked proudly, mostly excited for his new education. He came to Ruby and bowed, Ruby had a badge made with very rare and precious jewels and rewarded to him. Next Feather came, she was wearing a puffy lilac ball gown. She had a cheerful smile which made the crowd go in awe. She skipped down the aisle to Ruby, and gave her a cute curtsy. Ruby smiled. As Feather bent down, Ruby placed a gorgeous tiara made with diamonds and amethysts on her carefully done hazel hair. Then both siblings bowed towards the crowd, and everyone stood up and clapped.

That night there was a huge banquet for everyone working in the palace, and free food were given to every villager. Ruby was walking around greeting all the maids and servants and other people at the palace. Then the stable hand came, wearing the outfit Ruby last saw him wear.

“Couldn’t you at least wear something more appropriate,” Ruby said, slightly offended. The stable hand bowed.

“There was no dress code stated, your majesty,” he replied mischievously. Ruby rolled her eyes.

“You’re lucky I’m nice,” she teased.

“Sure you are,” said Shauna sarcastically walking past. Ruby was slightly embarrassed, but she understood Shauna was mad at her, and she had every reason to be.

“Great way to talk to the queen,” the stable hand yelled back at Shauna, teasingly. “She’s nice, I met her before, pretty funny too,” he said. Ruby blushed.

“Might I ask what is your name stable hand,” Ruby asked.

“My name? Well that’s an honour to tell you,” he smirked. “Call me, Fey,” Fey bowed again.

“Well, Fey. You do a great job at taking care of the horses,” Ruby congratulated him. “And do call me-”

“STOP! Your majesty I can’t know your name. It’s against the law,” He interrupted. Ruby stared at him.

“As you wish,” Ruby told Fey, and walked over to join Feather and Leigh.

Soon the banquet was over, and Ruby returned to her room. She got her phone out and texted her friends.

Ruby: Hey

Grace: Ruby!! You have a tube inserted in you so you can eat, and your coming home tomorrow.

Toni: Is everything ok in Solarist, are you ok there?

Ruby: I’m fine, I just don’t know why I’m not waking up!

Tania: Are you cursed or something?

Ruby: No I made it so only royalty could use magic.

Grace: You know it’s like noon right now, what time is it for you.

Ruby: Night.

Toni: Ruby try use your magic to get back to Earth.

Ruby: I can try.

Tania: Be careful!

Toni: Save your phone battery for when you need it the most.

Ruby: Ok then I’ll go now. I love you guys (as BFFs) :) I miss you

Grace: Same here! Bye

Toni: Bye! We r going to find a way to help you!

Tania: Bye! Luv ya! <3

Ruby sighed as she hid her phone back in her pocket. Today was a long day, so Ruby immediately fell asleep.
