Honest friends

Honest friends

A Poem by Hel

I love you
And now I have said it
Everything's changed.
Planned dinners are cancelled
With vague references to
Work schedules, meetings, fatigue.
Words that fell around us so easily
References, memories through which
We journeyed, are now gathered up
And tucked neatly back
Into the past.
Hopes are quietly and firmly dashed
Against the brutal wall of
Honest friendship
Appearing the same
With everything changed.
