Hapi Bae Dai

Hapi Bae Dai

A Poem by Mirror
"

Living with intelligent but autistic loved one.

"
Hi Daniel!
Soft eyes fixed on me
Then looks away like I was nothing
He walks away to a corner
Looking for something, I wonder
And yes it was nothing.
A day before,
When birds their trees adore
He had been at the window
A pencil and a paper
What he did with it, I wonder
I went to my room
To touch his dad's picture as usual,
Its been hard but its now a norm,
I took Daniel's records from exam
"He aced all his scores, darling" I whispered
I mixed Daniel's favourite cereals
He was already seated for his meal
I drew a chair and sat next to him
I fed him and will do it over again
For I love him
Oh, I do!
Then just when I put my back to bed
By the door I heard my son first words
I have been trying to have him talk all day
And he had been silence and busy
"Hapi' bae dai" he said
In his hand was a paper
Of an excellently drawn bird,
With my name and a pink flower
"Hapi'bae dai" he said and
He gave it to me
I have completely forgotten
Today is my birthday!
I was thinking of him
But he thought of me better
"Hi Daniel, " I cried "thank you my baby!"
"Mom, hi e" He whispered......
