Garden of Yarrow

Garden of Yarrow

A Poem by Heathens
"

A tale of turbulent lovers. I wrote this for the love of my life.

"

In the middle of the desert

The sky's own sun unrelenting

rain’s riddle is never solved

Yet that is where both of us lie

Our skin dries and cracks

Withering away under stubborn sun

For it refuses to set

Yet we persist

Rain will fall, this much i know

Growth will sprout

Even in the most hopeless earth

But until then, I will lay with you eternal

Centuries it feels it’s been

Patience will begin wearing thin

Skeletal hands held turn to sand

Before us sprouts a patch of green

It is a sight to behold

After waiting so long!

But it is not without its flaws

After all, a cactus has thorns

Millennia will pass

Hand in hand

Slowly but surely

Change will happen around us

Sand to soil

Imperfect flora appear all around us

A mushroom, dandelion, nightshade

Alas, our love has grown a garden of yarrow
