Chapter Seven

Chapter Seven

A Chapter by Heartful5160

I was suspended for two days, so that gave me time to pack. Even though we weren't moving, until next Friday. So, that gives me three to four days to pack. I had to stay home for two days all by myself. But at least I had a car, so I could run errands if I needed to. May be I can take some time to visit the doctor and ask for a maternity test for Darrius.

"Hey, Darrius," I said over the phone.

"Hey, what's up babe?"

"Do you want to go to the doctor with me? If you don't mind."

"No, I don't mind. I would love to go with you. I'll meet you at the house. I'll drive you there," he suggested.

"Okay, see you in about thirty minutes?"

"Yeah, bye babe."

"Bye."

I was excited that he wanted to go with me. Most men or boys wouldn't do that! After, I got ready, I looked out my window and I saw Darrius's charger. I grabbed up my purse and ran to the front door. I locked up the house behind me.

He got out of the car and greeted me with a hug and a sweet kiss. He went to the passenger side of the car and opened up the door for me and closed it when I got in, " I appreciate you coming with me. I was wondering. Could you do a maternity test? So I can stop stressing?"

"Yeah. It ain't good for pregnant woman to stress."

"Well, thank you for coming."

We showed up to the woman's clinic. We parked the car in the closest parking spot to the door. I was starting to get out, until Darrius grabbed my wrists. I looked at him with a confused look, " What?" I ask.

"Can I ask you something?" he asked.

"Yeah, anything."

"Okay, so I like you and I mean down to the core, like you. I wanna be here for you and support you. And love you," he added. Okay, now the last part was some real stuff, "Really? I was just stunned and I didn't really know what to say to all that.

"Yeah. I wanna be with you. So, will you be my one and only girl?"

"Definitely," I said as I kissed his beautiful filled lips.

We walked into the office and signed myself in. A lot of people sat and stared at us. Like we were a disease. We were just an interracial couple! Come on! Get over it! The doctor finally asked us to come back with him. We walked back to his office and he asked us to take a seat in front of his desk. He held out his hand, for us to shake. "Welcome. My name is Dr.Greggs Linder. What brings you here today?"

"Well, I'm pregnant, but I'm having a hard time of figuring out who's it may be. But I do believe I have an idea of who's it is, though."

" Well, who?"

"This guy right here," I swung my arm around Darrius.

"All we have to do is take a paternity test. It won't be hard at all."

He took out a laptop and placed it on his desk. He started asking some questions. After that, he gave us instructions on how to do the maternity test.

We were waiting on the results, while sitting in Dr.Gregg's office chairs. Darrius took my hand and started holding it. I think that he was praying pretty hard, hoping that the test would come out positive, "You nervous?" he asked me.

"No and yes at the same time. You?"

"No, because if it's mine, I'll take care of it. You know I hope it's a boy," he mentioned.

"Me too."

Dr. Gregg's walked in on our conversation. He walked behind his desk and got back on his laptop, " I sent all the results to my laptop," he said. It was quiet for a moment, because he was searching for the results, " Here they are. Okay, here are the good news, you may be hoping for, folks. Darrius, my man, you are the father. Congrats! And the bad news is that there is none," he added. He scared me for a moment, because I was like he already told us that Darrius was the father, so what is the bad news. He's great at that, if I might add.

"Really?" I said, cheerfully. I was so ecstatic when I heard that Darrius was the father! He was too.

"I'll see you tomorrow, baby," Darrius said.

"Um...can you come in with me?" I asked him.

"Yeah."

"I want you to meet my family. If they throw any looks, don't take them personally. I find them to be pretty judgemental," I warned him. They were. I found them being that way with a lot of people they didn't know or didn't even give a chance to know.

"Okay I won't."

We walked up to the front steps and I opened the door and walked in. I had butterflies in my stomach, praying and hoping that this wouldn't go down hill. "Mom, dad!" I yelled.

"In here!" I heard my mom yelled from the direction of the kitchen.

We walked into the kitchen and my looked up from her cutting plate. My dad looked up from the bar where he was sitting and talking to my mother. Probably without me. They had some shocked looks plastered on their faces. Kind of like dragging in a dead body behind me, "Mom, dad, this is Darrius. Mom, I already told you about him, but dad this is the guy that will be carrying the title of my baby's father. I'm having his baby," to make it clearer for him.

 "You're what?" he yelled.

"Dad, please stop yelling. You know, I knew this was going to happen. I guess you got bad parenting skills, huh?" after that I walked up to my room. Darrius followed me and he closed the door behind him, so we could have some privacy, "Babe, I'm going to stay here for tonight," he said.

"Why?" I wondered.

"Because, I just want to if you don't mind."

"Whatever you think is best," I have a feeling I know why he wants to stay here and not want to leave me here. He wants to stay here, just in case my parents want to harass me about this. About Darrius.

While I was laying in bed, I was thinking why did I get pregnant? Everyone knows I'm not ready for a child. I can't even take care of myself. Then I'm only seventeen, there's no way I'm ready! I can't handle this, especially on my own. I don't even have parents that want to support me. Only my boyfriend. My future is gone! No more wanting to be a doctor. I feel as though I'm all by myself.

I woke up the next morning, to the sound of a school bus passing my house. Usually it doesn't wake me up in the morning, but it did this morning. I got out of the warm covers and went downstairs to find Darrius sitting and chatting with my dad. They were laughing like they were best friends. What was this in front of me? Whatever it was, I was liking the view of it!

I didn't want to interrupt the beautiful view, so I walked behind the couch and right onto the kitchen. I guess my mom wasn't up yet. I looked over to see the stove clock to see what time it was. It was still pretty early. I grabbed a bowl of cereal and headed into the dining room. I just wanted some peace and quiet.

After it got quiet in the living room, I was guessing that they finished up with their conversation. I had the bowl in my face, keeping the edge of it on my lips to drink the milk and the rest of the remains out of the bowl. I took the bowl down from my lips. I found Darrius standing there with a smile on his face. I was so embarrassed. I looked like a pig! "How long have you been standing there?" I asked.

"May be a minute or so."

"Oh'. How'd you sleep?"

"Good. You're up early," he mentioned.

"Yeah a bus woke me up. You know I don't have school today. Want to do something? May be get ahead of ourselves with the baby shopping?" I asked. May be that wouldn't make sense we don't know what gender it'll be. He came over and took a seat next to me. He wrapped his arm around me and he looked into my eyes with his darling eyes. Then, he showed his beautiful, Colgate smile, " I think that would be just wonderful," then he reached for a kiss.

As I was getting ready and Darrius was in the shower, my mom came in my room. It was almost time for her to go to work. So, you can put together that I was up really early. "Hey mom, what do you need?" I asked her.

"Oh' nothing. Your dad told me that you were up, so I decided to come and tell you bye, before I head out for work."

" Alright. Have a good day at work," she left my room, because Darrius walked in on us. He gave me a queasy smile, then I started laughing off the worries and pain.

We walked into Baby Galore, the baby store of California. I didn't know what to get. I had a hard time picking out outfits and toys, because I didn't know the gender, so I just got things that any baby would enjoy. On the other hand, it looked like Darrius was having the time of his life. He had three different outfits in his arms, "How do you know it's a boy?" I asked.

"I was just going to show you what I found. What I would like to have if it is a boy," he said.

"Oh' okay."
