My City

My City

A Poem by Sam

What did I do to deserve you?
I run, can't slow down
Isn't enough time
Not enough hours in this day
For everything to sink in
Won't be enough

Only have so much time, until I return

To the land where everything is

I may not know anyone here

Every face is new

I'm not lonesome, she comforts me

With all of her people

So incredibly tall, grey, illuminating

It all takes me

And I can't resist, I refuse

I dance, I fly, I run

My escape from reality

Swim in it, give myself over

Walk through the past

The present

Never the future

Turn blue, red, green, yellow, pink

Lying down, want to get up again

My legs don't work, they refuse

So in my dreams, I walk again

Never want to be apart from this place

Oh, how I love you

My beautiful city
