I love you’ was said between the two of them frequently, even before when the two of them weren’t together.

One was when they took a road trip across America when they needed a break. Chris always drove the most, saying it made him relax and calm down after stressfully times. They were 18 and had been together two years and knew the silence between them both was nothing to be afraid of.

William knew Chris was getting tired by the time they had driven almost 15 hours and he decided to take action, Chris had promised to tell him when he was getting tired so that Will could take over so they didn’t wreak or anything like that. William reached over the console and grabbed his lovers hand and squeezed it gently.

“Pull over, dove. Let me drive for awhile. I don’t want you to fall asleep at the wheel.” Chris sighs and nods, pulling off at a rest station after another mile and a half of driving. The two of them switched out and in the middle of them doing so, William couldn’t help but to laugh at the look on Christopher’s face. He was obviously tired. William pulled Chris into his arms for a moment and kissed the top of his head.

The second was when Chris and William were 20 and Chris was out of town for a trip for work. Chris was gone for two weeks and the entire time he was looking for something that reminded him of William. He did this every trip he went on, no matter how long or short it was. If he didn’t find anything he would try to attempt to make it up to him the next time by finding two things.

It made him laugh a little when he found it, it was kind of dumb but the thing really did make him think of William. He took a photo of it and sent it with the text. ‘It reminded me of you.’

The thing he sent was a pretty design on the cover of a book neither of them have ever heard of before. The style of art on the cover reminded him amazingly of his boyfriends art and he had to share it with him

The third was before they started dating. They were 16 and at the fair, and it was a simple telling of love. William and Christopher were at one of the stands waiting in line to get something to eat before heading back to the school early. Chris was leaning against William carefully in line and William had one arm around his best friend. Once they finally got to the front of the line Chris ordered what he wanted and William did as well. Chris reached into his back pocket for his wallet and was startled when he found it wasn’t there. His cheeks turned red with embarrassment and he looked over at William. Will couldn’t help but to chuckle softly and pull out enough money to cover them both.

“No, no, it’s my treat.”

“You don’t have to do that.” Chris mumbles.

“Already did.”

The fourth was when Chris broke his new camera after accidentally letting it slip from his fingers when his hand grew a little weak when he was taking photos on the road outside. He took his time going back inside because William had got that camera for him probably not a week before and he didn’t want to say anything. But he knew he and too. He walked quietly into his partners art room and rubbed the back of his neck, looking down the entire time. Once Will noticed that he had come in he turned around in his chair and smiled at the other man.

“Are you okay, Christopher?” He asks once he notices the others expression.

“I hate myself so much for doing this, d****t. I was just outside and my hand couldn’t hold it and I accidentally dropped it.” He pulled out the camera from behind his back and showed it to the other. William can’t help but to chuckle softly as he stands and walks over to Chris and grabs the camera out of his hands and looks it over for a moment.

“Come here. Let me fix it.” He gestures to his work desk and within the hour he has it fixed back up and good as new. “See, dove, you didn’t have to worry.” Will bundles his partner into his arms and kisses his face, smiling when Chris laughs softly.

The fifth was simple and when they were having a time apart later on in life. When their daughter was at a friends house and they both were under stress of William’s mothers death and neither of them were being very reasonable at that time. Chris was sick and Will was scared at this time. They didn’t want to lose each other but they still took time apart. Chris and William were at a little cafe just seeing how one another was and they both finally decided it was time to leave after about an hour.

“I’ll walk you home.” William says, reaching out to touch the others hand softly.

“Thank you, William.” They didn’t hold hands but once they were at where Chris was staying William did kiss the other softly on the cheek and Chris hugged William.

They worked things out in the next week.

The sixth was a simple thing, a simple morning where Chris was feeding their newborn daughter, cradling her in his arms and holding the bottle in his opposite hand. William walked into the living room and smiled at the two of them. This was the one thing he had always wanted in life and now he had it. He walked up behind the two of them and leaned down and kissed his partners head and then his daughters head. Chris turned his head slightly and kissed William softly, smiling as he pulled away.

“Have a good day at work.” He whispers.

The seventh was something kind of sad. The two of them were 14 and Christopher was still in a coma after the accident. William always visited and seemed to run out of tears because he couldn’t seem to cry anymore even though he wanted to. One day he walked into his best friends room and sat down next to him and grabbed his hand, holding it in his own gently. His bottom lip wobbled slightly and tears finally seemed to form in his eyes. He smiled softly at his friend in the hospital bed.

“I dreamt about you last night. I dreamt that you were okay.”

The eighth was in a different time where they never grew up together. They met on a crowded bus and Chris noticed the curly haired man standing next to him was weighed down with a few art posters and a bag. He looked like he was struggling slightly. Christopher stood up and smiled at the other man.

“Take my seat.” William looked up at him and smiled.

“Thank you sir.”

The ninth was at William’s 17th birthday. Chris had been out of town and he said he would be back a little later in the night. The entire night was happy and fun, full of friends and gifts and other things. Around 11 that night the door finally opened and Chris walked through the door, a medium sized package in his hand. They met in the kitchen and Chris sat down his gift and quickly went to kiss his boyfriend before anything else. Will smiled and gestures to the last piece of cake left.

“I saved a piece for you.”

The tenth was yet another time where they never knew one another. William was 21 and sitting against his fathers headstone and drinking himself into oblivion. They finally found his fathers body after nearly 12 years of never finding anything. He hated himself for thinking that his dad was still alive and hated the military for never looking harder. Thinking that his dad was alive was almost a lifeline to him when he was a teenager and now he just felt nothing.

Beside him he didn’t notice another person walk up to the grave near him and kneel down. It was raining slightly and he was sitting in the mud getting his suit dirty. He didn’t care that much anymore. Looking over at the other person he could only make out what they looked like in the semi darkness and instantly knew this other man was absolutely beautiful.

“I’m sorry for your loss.” He whispers softly, not realizing the other person heard him. He looked up and smiled softly. He set the flowers down on the grave and pressed his forehead against the stone for a second before getting up and walking over to William. They talked for hours and became instant friends.
