Unparalleled

Unparalleled

A Poem by Marcus R V Fielder

I worry about you my unparalleled friend,
turning to books for an emotional fix,
but offering no wounds I’d have to tend.
Talking matter-of-factly about platonics.
existing on point to be on one’s own,
deflecting advances.
What if, when sixty years have flown,
you have lost all your chances?
Maybe I just don’t understand,
how you can exist without lust,
friction of skin or a ring on your hand.
But in your principle, I’ll trust,
and I won’t be wavering as time goes by,
because I guess it’s possible you know better than I.
