Something I wrote on a napkin sitting cold, tired and bored at a empty laundry mat

Some people aren't made for sunny days and warm embraces,
some people are made for digging through lint and sugarless gum wrappers in worn pockets at crappy laundry mats that reek when you get too close to any of the trashcans,
little hotel rooms off highways with bare light bulbs and suspicious carpet stains you try not to look at for too long,
some people are made for black coffee and corner booths.
and some people, end up there whether they like it or not.
The man loading his clothes beside me looks like the latter, the grimy bunny slippers and permanent frown tell me this was not where he thought he'd end up, they whisper that this man had dreams once,
and now they are broken.
I am none of these, I have no dreams    broken of otherwise, I have the smell of lint and the way the world shines at 4 in the morning after it rains,
I have the no smoking sign I'm blatantly ignoring and a long drive ahead of me to a unknown destination.
The dryer beeps a conclusion.
