I am the Atheist of Spring

I am the Atheist of Spring

A Poem by Hayley

I am the atheist of spring

     I fled Her

     And She fled me

     Like Her nightly passes

Over doors brushed with lamb’s blood

     She chants “Judas, Judas”

     Looks for a son

(Does Her cross lie in a bed of blossoms?

It is hidden just as I)

I paint my tendril arms in poppies

As the lamb for Her slaughter

     She pauses

     “Bring life to this one

For she is more dead than my brother”

oh my....very interesting. Spring and her promises of new life (and love perhaps) has betrayed you and left you an unbeliever in her charms. I love the last lines denoting that you are more dead than winter, that is so powerful!
It makes you wonder about her cross hidden in the flowers....for those who do not feel her rejuvenation powers, it could be that-the pain of not feeling more alive in the Springtime. But still, you paint your arms as poppies, so hope rests at the bottom of your well. There is a depth to this poem that really merits much thought. I loved it.

This is very interesting. It has some very Christian themes mixed with an undertone of Paganism. It was highly stylistic and packed a good punch. Nicely done.

spellbound... what a deep and esoteric poem. Your choice of words is extraordinary and very explicit, as always... Casually, spring is a signification for joy and love, and winter's the mourning 'period'... but here you are, breaking the 'laws', with a very intelligent writing, rich with description and abstruse scene and meaning... you inspire me... Just perfect....

Oh Hayley..so true and what a wonderful way to express these types of emotions.. You rocked it out with this.. Even though spring can have a sense of rebirth and renewal with it.. there also can be melancholy undertones in the soul.. Sometimes the low level buzz of misery... xo

I like the view and the thoughts in this poem. I had to read a few time to grasp the desire and the meaning of this poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
