To The Endearing One

To The Endearing One

A Poem by Hayley

Of all the forgiveness I possessed

     In my tidy heart,

I could not purge myself of enmity

     In all the summers of my years;

I could not tend the blossoms that

Sprouted from the wilted soil within.

When winter kissed my cheek I pressed

The beauties in my leather book

To preserve the frozen garden

In verity for the pages of leaves.

When they poked their tiny heads

     In every revival of spring,

I pulled out my trowel the same as before,

     And rolled my apron up.

Your work is always so beautifully written. Classical in style--with a twist--like your ending line--

"When winter kissed my cheek I pressed
The beauties in my leather book"
So many strong statements in this poem. You write with a experience pen. So many visions create by strong words and emotion in this poem. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Oh I love the pressing flowers part making a scrap book to remember better days may I suggest eves to leaves as it's another name for a page and keeps the nature metaphor flowing. I along with a joyful heart for signs of spring as English winters too cold and too long. The imagery of this poem is beautiful, keep em' coming

This is beautiful! The flow was perfect and I liked the font being in pink. It makes this piece unique. Great job!

Beautiful Hayley and I still feel each time I read your works that I am reading poetry of the old classics. Love it!

First we must live with our selves
to learn HOW to live with another.

You painted a telling portrait.
