What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas

A Chapter by KayKay

One early morning, I just remembered Anthony picking me and putting me in the car and driving. God knows where. After a couple of hours, I finally woke up. We got off the freeway and I just saw lights. It was night time.

I just saw hotels, bars, and casinos.

I looked at Anthony and he was laughing at me. “Good morning. Or should I say good evening. We’re here.”

A guy took our car and we walked into the hotel. We walked up to the front desk, got our room key and fell asleep.

I woke up and it was mid-afternoon. He wasn’t lying next to me. I walked out of the bedroom and looked in the small living room. I saw a note

            ‘Good morning baby girl:

I went down for some breakfast. I’ll come back up soon.

                        I love you. "Anthony’

Ok, that made my worries go away. As soon I finished reading the note, someone was knocking on the door. No correction, banging. And I knew it was him.

“I’m coming!” I said. I opened the door and helped him with the trays of food he got for us.

“Ok, this is for you.” He gave me an apple. “Good afternoon.” He kissed me. “And this is all for me.”

“A*****e.” He laughed and gave me my tray of food.

We ate our breakfast or brunch or whatever you may call it and watched TV. We went downstairs in our swim suits and went swimming.

No one was there. He smiled at me. “No one’s here. Cool!” he said.

He jumped right in and swam towards me. “Aren’t you coming in?”

I nodded. I went down the little steps going into the pool, scared it was going to be cold. I sighed in relief, realizing the pool was heated. It felt nice. I swam to him and grabbed me in his arm. We were kissing and then he swam away from me. We were swimming all over the pool. We raced each other from the shallow end to the deep end. Since the pool was eight to nine feet deep, he liked going to the bottom and swimming on the pool floor.

I did the same thing and I shot right back up because I couldn’t hold my breath any longer. As soon as I got my breath, I went down slowly, knowing if I went any faster my ears would pop and I didn’t like the feeling.

I saw him in the corner of the pool just looking at me as I was on my back floating and relaxing.

I looked at him and smiled. “What?”

“You’re beautiful and you look peaceful.” I swam to him and he pulled me in his arms.

“Yes, because I’m having a good time and no one is here. I like alone time…” I looked at him. “with you.” He looked at me and swam away.

I chased him and soon we were playing tag. And then I stopped for awhile, thinking my life was the same. How I was running away and the bad emotions would chase me. Once they tagged me, I was angry, sad, worried and I was it. Then the happiness would run away and I would try with all my might to catch up to the happiness knowing it would last only for so long before something bad would happen. This little game, this tag game, I was so tired. I looked at him. Thinking how he was also playing the same game. He was running away from death, tried to hold on for dear life in order to stay alive for my sake, pretending he was ok when only he was getting weaker.

“What’s wrong?” he finally asked. He swam to me and he grabbed me in his arms. Now happiness was finally caught and the sadness was running away. The only difference is that the happiness would stay it and wouldn’t want to run away.

I simply nodded. “Yes, I am. Are you tired?”

He shook his head. “No, I’m having fun catching you.”

I got out of the pool and went into the Jacuzzi and he came with me.

I sat on his lap and put my head on his shoulder. “It’s so warm.” He looked at me. “I like this. It’s so nice.”

“Yes, it is. I’m glad you’re having fun.
