To the Slopes of Snow

To the Slopes of Snow

A Poem by Havatara

Last night there was a blizzard.

I watched the clouds of snow.

Sitting there, I thought to myself,

“To the slopes I must go.”

I took my skis and snow boots

and ran toward the cold winter air.

Sitting in my big red truck,

I left for my own snowy fair.

Over the river and through the woods

to the slopes I go.

Up the lifts, so high above

to the mountainous hills of snow.

Sailing down the sunny slope,

my face is in the breeze.

Even though the wind blows through me,

I know that I won’t freeze.

Suddenly it all was over.

The ride was at an end.

But on the slopes of snow I know

I can always go again.

Havatara
This was for my English class. We had to bring in a picture and my teacher handed them out randomly, and we had to write a poem that was inspired by the picture. I got one of the guy skiing.

This is beautiful. A true representation of a child's kindled dream to snow amoung frosty slopes. Great work!
