A Chapter by Havatara

September 5, 1859

Dear Lucy,

Shuster. . . .  Why do I feel like I know that name from somewhere?  I already knew that that was Jaime’s last name, but I feel like I know it from somewhere else as well.  I’ll have to think about it.

It’s strange to me that Cindy knows how to cook.  I mean, I guess she sort of has to know how to cook, because she was doing just fine before you came, but I thought that since she made you cook she must not have been very good.

If you’re too tired to write to me, I don’t think you should.  I don’t know what happened to you, but you were gone for so long that it must have made you tired.  Write as soon as you’re feeling a bit better.

Sincerely, Safiya
