Epilogue

Veripema and Mason’s wedding was fantastic. It was a sunny summer day, eight months after the battle, at Susan and Medeleck’s cottage. All of the vampires that they knew were there.

“Rosemary! Can you get more cheese? Human food seems to be really popular!” Susan called. She was standing behind the buffet counter, serving food by the bucket full. The reception was almost over, and it was almost nightfall.

“Sure!” Rosemary called. She ran into the kitchen and came back five seconds later with a giant block of cheese in her hands.

“Thanks. Where’s Bodoleck?” Susan asked.

Rosemary thought for a moment and then said, “I think he’s with Anna in the meadow. He wanted to ask her something. Why? What do you want to ask him?”

“Well, it’s more about you than anyone else. But since my mother isn’t a vampire anymore, that means I’ve been cut off from the ‘throne’ of the vampires. That mean’s your next in line. What do you say?” Susan waited tentatively for the answer.

Rosemary leaned against the table as she said, “Sure. Why not. I’d like to live in the palace. I’d have to change a lot of things in the interior, but otherwise, it wouldn’t be bad at all. No. In fact, I was thinking of moving there this summer if I could. I’ll be sixteen next winter, and I’d like to get out of the city. Without having to try to learn how to drive a car.”

Susan laughed and continued handing out food.

All was well.

For now, at least.
