A Chapter by Havatara

Rosemary looked shocked and yelled, “It’s what?!”

“Poisoned. It’s a very rare poison that I haven’t seen since before my first reincarnation, and I’m in my fifth now. I don’t know if we have any medicine for it here, but you can’t leave this city until we get it. I’m sorry, but that could be another few days,” said Fangblood.

“That’s okay,” Rosemary replied grumpily.

Michael, who was looking from Rosemary to Fangblood and back to Rosemary said, “So, we have to stay here for a little while? For a few days at least, right?”

“Yes, I’m afraid so. We have some temporary medicine that we can use, but you’ll have to stay in bed. No moving around. I’ll be right back with the medicine,” said Fangblood. She left the room quickly.

Once she left the room, Michael asked Rosemary, “Can we see how Bodoleck and the others are doing now?”

“You know that’s impossible,” said Rosemary. She sat back down on the chair and looked at Michael, thinking.

“No it isn’t. Don’t you have that locket thing? I know that you gave Bodoleck one. Can’t we communicate through that?” Michael asked. He was pacing the room now.

Rosemary looked at him, and her expression changed. She said to Michael, “That’s right! I completely forgot about the lockets in all of this. You’re a genius even though you don’t show it most of the time!”

Rosemary jumped up and grabbed her bag. She unzipped the side pocket and got her locket out. She said to it, “Show me Bodoleck, Medeleck, and Susan!”

The locket opened and showed them to her. Veripema was gone, and they were treating their injuries. Bodoleck had a gash in his arm, and black blood was trickling down it. Medeleck had apparently his head, and was unconscious while Susan was treating it.

“Bodoleck! It’s me, Rosemary!” Rosemary said into her locket. They saw Bodoleck look at his pocket and take the locket out. He opened it and saw their faces.

“Rosemary! Michael! We’ve been so worried about you! How are you? And a better question, where are you?” Bodoleck asked.

“We’re fine, and we just got to Budapest this morning. I have the bottle, but we have to stay here for a few days. My wing isn’t fully healed, and it turns out it was poisoned. I want to kill Veripema, but I’ll just send her to Saturn the second I can,” said Rosemary.

Bodoleck smiled at her and said, “Well, we’ll be there as soon as we can. Stay in the hospital until we get there. You’re protected there. They know that Veripema is evil, and they won’t let her enter. Is the password the same?”

“Yes.”

“Okay. Veripema won’t know if they changed it. Tell them to change it to ‘yriaf.’ Then we’ll know how to get in, and Veripema won’t. Please. Then you’ll be even more protected. Who’s your doctor?” Bodoleck asked. He was still treating his wound, but he stopped to listen to Rosemary.

“It’s Fangblood. Redrain is still here, too. How is everyone? Susan didn’t look that bad, but what happened to your arm? How are you going to get here like that?” Rosemary asked him.

“We’ll find a way. But you take care. Medeleck is waking up, and I have to help with him. I’ll be fine. We’ll get there. You just stay where you are. Okay?” Bodoleck looked serious about this.

Rosemary thought about it for a bit, and then mumbled, “Fine.”

Bodoleck smiled and said, “Good girl. I have to go. Talk to you soon.” And he was gone to help his brother. Michael and Rosemary saw him put the locket back in his pocket and help his brother sit up.

Rosemary closed her locket when the door opened. Fangblood came in with a nurse behind her. The nurse was pushing a cart full of little glass bottles with a yellow liquid in them. Fangblood had yet another key.

“You’ll have room 620. Here’s the key. As you know, sixth floor, and I’ll have my nurse show you how to take your medicine. The human . . .”

“Whose name is Michael,” Michael cut in. He didn’t want to be referred to as ‘the human’ any longer.

Fangblood smiled and continued, “Michael will be able to stay with you, but the medicine makes you hungry. I’ll have a few trays of sushi by your bed, and I hope you have a pleasant stay.”

“Bodoleck, Medeleck, and Susan are coming here. They want the password to be ‘yriaf’ so my aunt doesn’t know how to get in here,” said Rosemary.

“Very well, but I want you to know that it will cost us a lot of trouble,” said Fangblood.

Rosemary, who was in a terrible mood, snapped, “Well, Veripema is causing us a world of trouble. I haven’t had a proper bed to sleep in for a week, nor good food. We’ve been living in the forest, running away, with a poisoned wing. My grandparents and my aunt want me and my boyfriend dead. And you’re complaining to me about changing a password?! I’m sorry, but that’s just not right!”

“What isn’t right is you yelling at my doctor. Now either you calm down, your you pay double for the medicine. Got that?” asked a new voice. A man was standing at the door. He was tall, and had white blond hair. His eyes were purple, too. His pale lips were curled into a smile, and he had his arms open.

Rosemary got over her shock quickly and yelled, “Dolubo! I didn’t know you got promoted!” She ran over and hugged him, lifting him off the ground.

“Whoa! And I didn’t know you got this powerful. I mean, wings, spells, enemies. You’ve grown taller, too. How long has it been? You should be, twelve, right?” Dolubo joked.

“Try fourteen. This is Michael, my human boyfriend,” explained Rosemary.

“Boyfriend? Last time I saw you, you winced at the name. And he’s human, too. Where did you get him? My sister doesn’t want to have a vampire boyfriend, and she wants him to be cute, too,” said Dolubo. His smile was wider still.

Rosemary replied with laughing eyes, “Prague. But hands off. He’s different. He actually believed me when I told him I was a vampire. Okay, so I had to convince him, but he’s here and believing. Michael, this is Bodoleck and Medeleck’s dad. I’ve known him for ages. They get their hair from their mom, just to remind you.”

“Cool. Oh, and I thought you were mental for about a month after we left that church. I still think you’re kind of mental,” said Michael. He was sure that if Rosemary trusted all these vampires, he could trust them, too.

Rosemary smiled and said laughing, “I wish I could say the same this about your sister. She’s so practical she won’t believe that I’m really not going to kill you, and that I’m saving your life in a way.”

“Yeah. Bodoleck told me all about it. So your aunt wants to eat this guy, and your grandparents are looking for the spell. By they way, have you found it yet?” Dolubo asked.

“I have the book, I’ve read it, and I know where it is. You can’t find it by reading the text. It’s somewhere else, but I can’t tell you. Veripema might be listening in. You never know,” said Rosemary. Her smile faded at the thought.

“Well, to change the subject, when are my sons and daughter-in-law getting here?” Dolubo asked. He sat down on the chair.

“They should be here in a few days time. They don’t have to go through all the trouble of monsters hunting us and getting the bottle from the mermaids, which I’ve already done,” said Rosemary.

“You have? That’s great! Now all you have to do is get to the castle and you’ll be all set,” said Dolubo.

“I wish I could, but I have to get the books from Prague and hide them again. And we have to go to the ball. You know Dekanire Dolob Dvorak’s ball. I’m taking Michael, if he gets over the fact that he’ll be in a giant room filled with vampires that he doesn’t know,” said Rosemary.

“And that won’t be any time soon. You even said yourself that your grandparents are going to be there, and that scares me,” said Michael. He shivered to show how scared he was, and Rosemary rolled her eyes.

Dolubo clapped his hands and said, “Well, let’s get you to your room.”
