Dear Lucy,

How are you dear?  I hope that you are well.  I know that the past few
months have been tough for you.  They’ve been tough for everyone, but
this grandmother knows that it’s been tough for you especially.

Now, I want you to know that I love you and that I have always loved
you.  I had three types of cancer and heart problems.  I have been
living off of medicine for too many years now.  It’s time that I have
left you for good.  Now dear, I know that you are crying.  Please don’t
cry for me.  It is time that I go.

I have lived a long and prosperous life.  It’s not everyday that a
woman of my age is able to go riding.  In case you are wondering, a
friend took me last month.  We have known for a while that I will die.
I gave the hospital that I am staying at a day that I wish to die.  In
two day’s time, on the tenth.  They will take me off of life support,
and they will give me medicines so that I will be asleep.

Lucy dear, don’t be too sad for me.  I know that you’re so young, only
thirteen, and you shouldn’t be expected to carry this burden, that of a
grandmother’s death.  I have always loved you, Lucy, and I always will
in the afterlife, wherever that may be.

It is my time to go.  To help you through your life in the same way I
do is my friend.  She will write you letters to help you, and my dying
wish is for you to write letters to her.  She will leave them under our
oak tree in the park.

Forever yours,
Grandma Julia

Wow, that was really touching. If this was made into a movie, I think I would cry. Great job just making it sound convicting.

Wow. They must be really close. This couldn't have been easy for either of them...
amazing job. You made it feel real.

Wow, that's so sad. You know, to be honest, I dont know if I'd be okay with my grandmother killing herself. It'd just be too painful.

But, either way, this was an amazing prologue, and I do hope you continue. I'd like to see how Lucy copes with the loss of her grandmother. And what she'll do after she dies.
