An Osbourne Requiem

An Osbourne Requiem

A Poem by Haunzwürthe
"

Lyrics from Ozzy Osbourne's "Mama, I'm Coming Home"

"
The dust held thick in the air
Choking each breath, blocking the sun
So soon after

"Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come, but I ain't the same
Mama, I'm coming home"

He lay there, dazed, shattered
The last rocks and debris pelting him
With one clear thought

"Times gone by seems to be
You could have been a better friend to me
Mama, I'm coming home"

Vision blurred and hearing deafened
Faded shadows fluttered overhead
Inarticulate voices shout

"Took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes"

His lips quivered, unable to speak
With the shallow breath
A tear dropped from his eye

"You made me cry, you told me lies
But, I can't stand to say goodbye
Mama, I'm coming home"

He could feel them surround him
Putting pressure on his body
The pain had no outlet

"I could be right, I could be wrong
Hurts so bad, it's been so long
Mama, I'm coming home"

Muffled screams tried to enter his ears
A blurred, darkened figure, the corpsman
And he closed his eyes

"Selfish love yeah we're both alone
The ride before a fall
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all"

His face was slapped awake
To fading surroundings of dark and light
As they put him on the stretcher

"I've seen your face a hundred times
Everyday we've been apart
I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause mama, mama, I'm coming home"

Hands held him together, hoping
For the whump-whump of the helicopter
The last gasp, they hear

"I'm coming home"

This is a story and a very good one. I love the poetic way in which it's told, it really keeps me reading and on edge. Love it!
