Part XXVI - The EndA Chapter by Haunzwürthe
"Hey!" he yelled through the door. There were people all over the street, climbing on top of cars and his balcony. "Emma, get the paddle, Imma teach 'ese brats so' manners an' respec'." He slid the door open and began yelling at the people sitting and standing on his balcony ledge, even pushing stragglers off. He looked around at all the people that seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Police hopelessly tried to keep a perimeter but obviously had not prepared for crowd control this large. Most were looking at the sky towards the Blue Line Bridge excitedly talking amongst themselves. Angus looked out across the street and saw Harry appeared as displeased as he did at the presence of the mob.
As with most of the people there, Angus felt the reverberations in his chest first. He looked at Sherry then back out at the crowd when he began hearing the low drone. It filled the air and somewhat silenced the crowd as it grew louder. The high pitched whine followed soon and then it was there. The crowd broke out in a roar, pointing at the ship and taking pictures with their cameras and phones. Angus stood stunned as he watched the ship almost float over the bridge and come to a hovering stop. "Well it definitely looks bigger than it did on TV," Sherry commented. Angus didn't respond but let a little smile start creeping across his face. He was waiting. Underneath the nose of the ship, two, long doors slowly opened to reveal a relatively small bay stacked with shuttles. Most were darkened inside the bay but one was lit up and let out a hiss of steam as it moved forward. A metal arm pushed it out of the bay and its engine lit up boosters around the outer edge of the craft. The arm released and the shuttle hovered momentarily before descending. Now the police began earnestly pushing people back to clear a landing space. People shuffled back and the road became visible again. Angus also saw the black government sedans that were parked along the side of the road inside the police barricade and the men in suits waiting patiently. His smile grew larger and his gums began to show between his lips. The shuttle was round in shape with the aforementioned thrusters keeping level on a vertical descent to the street. The top was a slight dome and the slow curves matched that of the larger ship. Almost to street level, four skids extended from the bottom of the shuttle and it touched down lightly; the thrusters barely threw out any dust from the street. Angus had his answer. There were three compartments in a semi circle with large windows. The middle held two aliens, one greyish orange and the other a solid green, that were piloting the shuttle. In the left compartment held Angus' gaze. Between a dark blue alien and one that barely had any purple to the grey complexion was a pasty white, skinny human. It was Jarvis. Jarvis' door opened vertically and the three stepped out. the dark blue alien was masculine in appearance compared to the shorter, reddish grey one's feminine appearance. They wore clothes that could've passed for togas had they not looked like dyed burlap. The attire was in stark contrast to the technological achievement of the space ship that held an ancient aura. Most people talked in hushed tones but a few shouted and yelled. The three stood together and a government agent stepped forward not coming too close to the aliens. Jarvis acknowledged him and continued talking with the aliens. He concluded his goodbyes with them by shaking hands and hugging the grey one. The aliens got back in the shuttle and it slowly lifted off to return to the ship. Jarvis shielded his face and walked toward the agent with a big grin on his face. They walked to the car and the agent opened the door. He looked back at the crowd until he made eye contact with Angus' gum faced smile. His ear to ear grin grew even bigger and he waved. Angus threw his hand in the air and started laughing. Jarvis got in the car and they slowly made their way through the crowd. With the shuttle secured, the ship gained altitude before its thrusters propelled the craft back into the atmosphere and into outer space. "I'n knowd it Miss Shurry. Ha, haaaa!! I'n sure did. He'n been upta so'em alliss time an' n'arnt a soul knowd it but me an' at booky boy." He sat down laughing as Sherry looked at him as an old man with loose lips. "He'n waved Emma, an' I'n waved right back at 'em. 'At's what he'n been upta alliss time and jess as I'n know I'n Angus Jef'son, he'n done went an' stuck it ta all 'em folk. Ha, haaaa! 'At he did!" © 2012 Haunzwürthe
