![]() Parts VIII and IXA Chapter by Haunzwürthe
While Jarvis was late to work that Wednesday, the 13th day of July, it wasn't because he was sick. The reasons were obvious enough to him that work could wait at a time like this. At 6:30am, Jarvis was nowhere to be seen. He didn't use the bathroom or eat his breakfast. He didn't take the 6:45 Green Line to downtown and he didn't show up for work. There wasn't much of a fuss, no one really noticed anyways. Not until around 9:20am did people become aware of Jarvis. Without warning, the door to apartment 413 was flung open and slammed shut with an extremely jubilant Mr. Bertstrum half screaming, laughing, jumping, and running down the hall to the stairwell. The people closest to the building heard the commotion first although were equally taken aback when he burst through the door and onto the sidewalk. What commenced, without regard for ten to fifteen bystanders, was two minutes of the most ridiculous celebration. Jarvis dropped all reservation on that sidewalk, dancing and cheering without no care at all to who saw or said anything. As his emotional high subsided, Jarvis finally stopped his show of insanity. He put his hands on his head, catching his breath, and with a cheese eating grin, looked at wide eyed, drop jawed Angus Jefferson.
"Jest hush wom'n," he said softly, nearly speechless, "I'n b'damned..." As quickly as he came out, Jarvis turned and ran back inside the building, up the stairs, down the hall and back to his apartment. This time, he wasn't seen again. At all. IX Eric Bevins stood with his homies near the bridge, their hangout outside of school. The summer meant most of their time was spent out there and today they had a good laugh at Jarvis' expense. When Jarvis came out of the building, Eric immediately knew he had to get this geek on camera and pulled out his phone. "Dudes, this is so going on Youtube." © 2011 Haunzwürthe |
