Trying to Write a Poem

This was written long overdue in response to some wannabe, MLA touting, proper grammar police noob who thought he could tell me how to write. He was sorely mistaken...

A line here, a rhyme there
a clever use of assonance
to make the paper
come alive
with what's coming out of my pen

 

So many rules to follow
my meter isn't correct
it should be more formal
da dee da
the grammar could use some work too

 

There is no structure inside
imagination runs rampant
colors and shapes
explosions
the art lies in capturing the random of it

 

So here I sit, piece of paper
ink flows from my pen
to capture that poem
all the while
I've been sitting here drawing a picture

 

It's a mountainscape because honestly
it's the only thing I can draw
not too sure how the giraffe fits in
innacurate, yes, but somehow it works...
