In the Darkness

Whether behind a mask, facade, or wall, many times we are afraid to show our true selves. Sadly, it has almost become a societal norm.

In the darkness, we are equal.
Beauty is assumed.
Boundaries and divisions are blurred
As the solitude of night brings us together.

 

In the darkness, we are complete.
Truth is honest.
Our conversations lie not in our
Selfish facade, but in our selfless transparency.

 

In the darkness, we are hope.
Future is imminent.
Our ambitions spill over in the pursuance
Of what we have not yet accomplished.

 

For in the light, we are unequal.
Ugly is perceived.
Our destructions and transgressions
Rear themselves before us all the while
We yearn again for the darkness.
