Down and Out on 53rd and Park

Down and Out on 53rd and Park

A Poem by Haunzwürthe
"

Perspective, and this time I tried to convey as much detail as possible while being as vague as possible. How you see him is you truth.

"

Look at them.
They're constantly walking
but not really going anywhere
same shoes, same overcoats
same shuffle [ka-chink!] down the sidewalk

The rat should be here soon.

They don't know,
they don't care to know.

Some will look occasionally
failing to be conspicuous,
but few dare to make eye contact.

Where is that rat anyways?

Have to give them credit though,
they are walking faster than the taxis.
There's a [cha-dinky-dink!] waste of a
practical invention .

Idiot horns blaring
through half frosted windows,
like that'll show them.

Their breaths escape without conversation,
boring commuters.

Ah, there you are. What took ya?

[clinkity-clunk!]

The economic capital of the country
and the silver doesn't even cover
the bottom of the cup.

Looks like enough
for a small coffee
[ka-tink!]
and a hash brown.

Here ya go buddy,
at least the crackers are free.
