Memory

"

A brief memoir

"
A childhood of fear and dread,
A perfect lover now long dead,
A father who was never home,
A sister wasted away to bone.
A strawberry smell so distant now,
So long ago, I wonder how,
These things still are in my head,
Filling my thoughts as I lay in bed.
Summers filled with friends and fun,
Things I wish I hadn't done,
Winters filled with nights so cold,
Nights I wish I wasn't alone,
Autumns of adventure and moonlight nights,
Getting into pointless fights,
Spring, making everything like new,
Days I spent just being with you.
Things I did, regrets I have,
Friends I made, friends I had,
Families that come and go,
Days of warmth, and nights of snow,
Lovers that have come and gone,
Times that went on much too long,
All these things I can't un-see,
Carved deep into my memory.
