Alone

Alone

A Poem by Jessica Weed

Do you ever stand on the edge of a group,

Not quite involved, and not quite excluded,

Feeling like you’re teetering on the top of a mountain,

And either way you lean-

Whether you engage yourself or walk away-

You’re taking a plunge?

Do you ever imagine that

You’re looking at life through a window,

That Esther’s bell jar found you;

Do you long for somebody

To open your window to let in the summer air?

Do you ever wish you could crawl into the dirt,

Breathe with the trees,

Hold the flowers as they bloom,

Observe the leaves above…

Or is that just me?
