Satan's Flower

Satan's Flower

A Poem by Jessica Weed

I came upon a flower sweet,

Smiling face of gold,

Attract’d my nose by its perfume,

Beautiful and bold.

I plucked the flower from its bed

And stared, aghast, it wilted!

Tarnished petals fell in my hands,

Revealed the flower gilded.

Attacked by scowling odor,

I pled my life unholy,

Too late to beg forgiveness,

Venom killed me slowly.
